State Missing Children Clearinghouses Since 1984, every State is mandated to have a clearinghouse. Most of the State Clearinghouses are attached to the State Attorney General's office because the State Clearinghouses work with law enforcement to track missing children's cases. However, some State Clearinghouses are part of the state's social services.
The State Clearinghouses are all required to track cases of missing persons and to provide resources to law enforcement and the searching families. However, all State Clearinghouses do not offer an equal set amount of resources. Consequently parents and caregivers should contact their State Clearinghouse to find out what assistance it is providing. Parents and caregivers should also contact State Clearinghouses in other states to evaluate their services in order to complement those offered by their own State Clearinghouse. |

The Laura Recovery Center (LRC) Manual describes how to conduct a massive, citizen directed effort to recover a missing child. It is expected that the recovery effort will be carried out in full cooperation with the presiding local law enforcement agency. Family Survival Guide This Guide is not the product of abstract academic research. It was written (with assistance from law enforcement and youth service professionals) by parents who have experienced the trauma of a missing child. It provides firsthand insights into what parents should do and what they should expect, and offers heartfelt words of hope and encouragement at a time when they are needed most. When Your Child Is Missing: A Family Survival Guide describes the steps that families and law enforcement agencies take as they forge a constructive partnership in their efforts to find the missing child. |
